Parks & Open Spaces
There are a number of 'green' spaces within the village available for sport and general recreation. They range from formal sports provision to wild life areas, green corridors and casual open space. Some are maintained by the Parish Council and some by other authorities and agencies.
Denman Lane recreation ground
This is an open grassy area with a mixture of trees at either end, suitable for a variety of uses; picnics, frisbee, kite flying, playing catch and all variety of activities.
Critchlow Road recreation ground
The play equipment on this area was extensively replaced and updated in 2014, providing a fenced off under-11's play area, football pitch, youth play area and outdoor gym fitness area.
Huncote Sports Field
The parish council own a football pitch next to Huncote Leisure Centre, which is leased out to Croft Juniors football club to play and train on, during the evenings and at weekends.
Peers Way/Preston Way Open Space
A small play area and open space, with a variety of trees and a small play area, owned and managed by Huncote Parish Council.
Brook House Gardens
A pleasant, relaxing area situated at the bottom of Brook Street, Brook House Gardens is owned by Blaby District Council and features a nice open space overlooking Thurlaston brook and contains a picnic table purchased by Huncote Parish Council.
The Green
The Green is an open space (owned by Leicestershire County Council) on the corner of Narborough Road and Denman Lane, which is a magnet for children playing ball games.
The trees on The Green are lit up every year for Christmas, and a tall Christmas tree is placed here each year.
The Green is also the location of the village sign, which sits prominently on the corner.
Huncote Leisure Centre fields
The fields at the Huncote Leisure Centre are on a former landfill site, and feature large open spaces for a variety of activities and also contain an 8-lane national quality BMX track and smaller BMX training track.
Club sessions are held on the track organised by Leicester Huncote Hornets.
There are a variety of public footpaths which cross this site.
This site is currently closed while maintenance work takes place to improve methane gas extraction. More details can be found in our News pages.
Spence Lane Play Area
A small play area and open space owned and managed by EMH Homes.
