Parks & Open Spaces

There are a number of 'green' spaces within the village available for sport and general recreation. They range from formal sports provision to wild life areas, green corridors and casual open space. Some are maintained by the Parish Council and some by other authorities and agencies.

This is an open grassy area with a mixture of trees at either end, suitable for a variety of uses; picnics, frisbee, kite flying, playing catch and all variety of activities.

Critchlow Road recreation ground

The play equipment on this area was extensively replaced and updated in 2014, providing a fenced off under-11's play area, football pitch, youth play area and outdoor gym fitness area.

Huncote Sports Field

The parish council own a football pitch next to Huncote Leisure Centre, which is leased out to Croft Juniors football club to play and train on, during the evenings and at weekends.

The Green

The Green is an open space (owned by Leicestershire County Council) on the corner of Narborough Road and Denman Lane, which is a magnet for children playing ball games.

The trees on The Green are lit up every year for Christmas, and a tall Christmas tree is placed here each year.

The Green is also the location of the village sign, which sits prominently on the corner.

Huncote Leisure Centre fields

The fields at the Huncote Leisure Centre are on a former landfill site, and feature large open spaces for a variety of activities and also contain an 8-lane national quality BMX track and smaller BMX training track.
Club sessions are held on the track organised by Leicester Huncote Hornets.

There are a variety of public footpaths which cross this site.

This site is currently closed while maintenance work takes place to improve methane gas extraction. More details can be found in our News pages.

Spence Lane Play Area
