How we manage parks and open spaces

Huncote Parish Council employs a Handyman and a deputy Handyman to maintain the parish council-owned green spaces. Grass cutting is completed by the parish council's chosen contractor. If you wish to report an issue, please contact us.

Mowing is carried out by many different organisations throughout the village:

  • Aggregate Industries - Huncote Nature Walk around Croft Quarry and Croft Hill
  • Blaby District Council - Brook House Gardens
  • Leicestershire County Council - The Green, verges in front of houses and 1m swathe of all roads, plus junction visibility splays
  • EMH Homes - Memorial garden opposite St James Church and Quarry View Close
  • EMH Sales - Spence Lane (including the drainage ponds)
  • Everyone Active (Huncote Leisure Centre) - Field around the Leisure Centre and BMX track (these currently use the same mowing contractor as the parish council)
  • Huncote Parish Council - Denman Lane/Critchlow Road recreation ground, sports field, cemetery and Peers Way/Preston Way open space.
  • Jelson - Peers Way/Preston Way drainage pond (which we believe will be transferred to the County Council) -
  • Severn Trent Water - Area around the pumping station
  • St James church - Area around the church
  • Suez - Large verge near hanging stone on Narborough Road and the quarry
  • Various farmers - All fields around the village
