Car park charges to return

Car park charges to return

Car parking charges will return to Blaby District Council's car parks in Blaby Town Centre and Narborough from Monday 29 March.

Along with the next stage of the national easing of lockdown restrictions, all barriers that have been in position at the on-street parking bays in the town centre will be removed on or before 29 March. This will see more than 40 free on-street parking spaces made available again for visitors to the town centre.

Two hours parking in Johns Court and Enderby Road in Blaby, and Weavers Court and Leicester Road in Narborough will be 30p from the date of the barriers being removed. All other charges in the car parks will remain unchanged.

Visitors to the car parks no longer need to bring cash. Tickets can be purchased using the PayByPhone app with no admin fee for using the service.

Contactless payments can also be made at the ticket machine for those without the app.

Councillor Sharon Coe, Portfolio Holder for Health, Wellbeing and Regulatory Services, said: "Whilst on-street parking bays were closed to aid social distancing measures, our priority was to ensure visitors to the town centre had access to free parking spaces in our car parks.

"It's important to remember that we do not charge for car parks to make a profit, but towards the maintenance costs of the car parks so we can spend money on other vital services for residents.

"We're also excited to have received government grant funding to install electric vehicle charging points, highlighting our commitment to the long-term sustainability of our car parks."

Free on-street bays in Blaby Town Centre can be found on Lutterworth Road, Enderby Road and Leicester Road.

The PayByPhone app can be downloaded in the App Store or on Google Play.
